Our Story
The AssertID concept originated from a project at Stanford Business School in January 2007. This effort attempted to answer a simple but important question - How do you know who you are interacting with online?
Leveraging recent advances in the science of Social Network Analysis and the the phenomenal growth of online social networks, the project team developed technology designed specifically to address this difficult but important question. AssertID was founded in 2007 to commercialize this technology.
First validation of the key concepts of this approach came when AssertID presented to the Internet Safety Technical Task Force (ISTTF) at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University in September 2008. The mission of this task force was to find solutions to ensure a safer internet environment for youth. The presentation, attended by several US State attorney generals and representatives from the leading social network sites, was well received.
Encouraged by the enthusiasm for our approach and recognizing the important role that Trust plays in social interactions online, AssertID is focused on delivering scalable commercial solutions to address the need for online trust and identity verification.
In January of 2011, AssertID was selected as one of the first companies to participate in the innovative Start-Up Chile initiative. Start-Up Chile is a program sponsored by the Chilean government with the ambitious mission of making Chile the Innovation & Entrepreneurial hub of Latin America.
For AssertID, Start-Up Chile offered a unique opportunity to advance the company through the infusion of cash and access to highly skilled engineering talent. This program has been transformative for AssertID.
In May of 2011 AssertID won the prestigious infoDev Top 50 Competition and was selected from among over 750 applicants to be 1 of only 2 companies to represent Chile at the 4th Global Forum on Innovation & Technology Entrepreneurship in Helsinki, Finland.
